Get Active Eat Healthy
The Get Active Eat Healthy program addressed issues and habits that are contributing to an increased incidence of obesity and metabolic disorders among enrolled members and community members of Ft. Berthold Reservation.
Natural Resources and Agriculture
Extension strives to serve the ranching and agriculture communities,
from cow-calf operations, horse programs, forage and cattle nutrition,
to crops and horticulture. Programs have included; low stress livestock
handling, carbon credits, livestock rotation systems, rangeland health,
forage harvest and storage, tree and garden consultation.
4-H & Youth Development
4-H is a program that provides experiential learning for youth. Kids
learn a skill, do a project and apply to a real life situation. 4-H
programs provide an outlet for youth to experience many diverse
opportunities. Youth programs include; 4-H sheep project, archery,
target shooting, digital photography, gardening, youth rodeos, horse
judging, technology, consumer choice judging and other school
enrichment programs.
Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)
EFNEP's target audience is low-income families with young children in
the household. Programs deliver education and hands on activities in
the areas of Dietary Quality, Food Purchasing, Physical Activity and
Food Safety. Although EFNEP does have a youth component, most of the
educational programs are delivered to the head of the household who is
responsible for food purchasing and food preparation for the family.
