Youth learn why character counts

The South Dakota Character Counts: We Are All Relatives curriculum, as
adapted from the Josephson Institute Character Counts program, uses
Lakota culture and beliefs to help students realize their potential and
their ability to effect change in their own lives.

Lakota Youth Day

In 2004, this Office established a Lakota Youth Day in the Spring that
is targeted to youth ages 8-18 years to expose them to tribal programs
and positive activities that are available on the Reservation,
including 4-H, the Boys & Girls Club, the Youth Affairs Archery
Club, and Rodeo. In the past two years 350 youth have participated in
the day’s events and a new 4-H club with 5 members was established from
the event.
